RUN ON

Communique December '96

A new record by Run On will be released to the suspecting public on Feb. 25th! We recorded the whole thing at Idful Music Corporation in Chicago with Casey Rice engineering (see the pictures of Casey, his "Piggy" and Sue's favorite mic.), mixing most of it there w/him and then 3 songs back in NYC at Greene Street Recording with Rod Hui on the knobs and switches. The CD was mastered by Brent Lambert at The Kitchen Mastering in Chapel Hill, North Carolina (Sue and I were pleased to discover the all-you-can-eat dinner deal at Durham's Pan-Pan diner on our way back up north after the session!). The vinyl version is being cut at SAE in Arizona (I wish we had been able to attend if only for the chance at a Burrito de Carnitas...).

The title of the record is _No Way_ and it consists of 12 songs, some of them quite new and some that have been in our repertoire for quite a while. There are 2 cover songs: Nick Drake's "Road" and "Sinnerman" which we learned from Nina Simone. Alan sings a couple, Sue sings most of 'em, I sing one and Katie harmonizes beautifully on a few. We hope you'll like it and that people'll find it a worthy successor to Start Packing.

The front cover is going to feature a very cool painting by our friend Hugh Hamrick in a style a bit similar to Charles Addams. Inside you'll find snaps from some of our recent travels.

We had fun playing a "relocation" benefit for WFMU on Nov.13 with Stereolab and Blonde Redhead at Westbeth (I hope they don't relocate out of the neighborhood). We're going to be playing more shows early next year and of course touring in earnest after _No Way_ is released.

I'm not sure what's going to come of it but we were contacted by the Spanish label Radiation about doing a single and we intend to record something (maybe they'll get back to us, or not!).
